There have been cases where the cutout for the HDMI port wasn't removed (the port is present, but the plastic is blocking it); just open up the back and verify, then remove the plastic that's in the way.

Occasionally, it seems that the power-off doesn't complete. The system is still powered on after the off-time (disks spinning, fan spinning, disk & power LEDs green, LAN led flashing).
