What did you mean your plex broke? how it look like? failed to start? failed to load online video/tv show? do you have a screen shot to share? Tried restarting Plex app from TNAS web panel didn't solve
Restarting the whole TNAS didn't help and brought back my router's IP in resolv.conf which I removed again

No you shouldn’t have to, remove your routers IP if it’s not doing DNS and see if it starts working better Leaving just 2 DNS servers in my resolv.conf doesn't seem to solve the situation.
