Re: App on my TV can make Multimedia Server stop. HOW?

Quick update: I no longer have this issue because I've switched to SMB and so I don't really need the DLNA server. However, I still think it should be looked into.

App on my TV can make Multimedia Server stop. HOW?

TNAS F5-221 with TOS version 4.2.32.2203011626 I'm accessing video (MKV) files from a Philips Android TV using various apps (I haven't found one that's entirely satisfactory yet). If I press the "back" button while watching in Kodi (by mistake, instead of STOP), it will go "up" t...

Re: D5-300 driver, software & shoddy hardware failures

This is extremely worrying to hear. I'm using a D5 T3 bought on May 7th 2020, and I'm running Monterey on a 2017 iMac. Just today the transfer rate when writing to the drive went WAY down for no apparent reason. An HOUR to write 43Gb?? WHAT? No health issues are reported in the manager app. (UPDATE:...

Re: Please help a confused newbie!

You can use a media device (such as Amazon Firestick or Apple TV). Just install PLEX on your NAS, insert the media device into one of your TV’s HDMI and connect media device to your network and you can watch movies/videos/photos/TV shows and listen to music on your TV. Many thanks! At the moment I'...

Re: How to use a UPS with TOS?

OK, never mind. It seems to have detected the UPS now. For some reason it took a very long time, and I assumed it wasn't working!

Re: How to use a UPS with TOS?

I've hooked up the UPS to the NAS, but I'm a bit stuck. For some reason it's hard to find the information about this... I don't understand how I can enable it in TOS. I found the "enable UPS" page, but it asks me for the UPS IP address... I have a BackUPS CS500, which connects via a weird ...

Re: How to use a UPS with TOS?

OK, I understand. I suppose I could try it, but I've decided instead to order a compatible UPS, to be on the safe side. My existing one can be used for other equipment anyway. Thanks for your help!

How to use a UPS with TOS?

I happen to have a UPS and wondered if I could use it with my TNAS (F5-221). I found the list of compatible UPS devices but it doesn't contain my model (APC ES - BE850G2). Is there a good chance it might nevertheless be usable? If so, how would I find out and set it up? Is there some application I c...

Re: Please help a confused newbie!

Aha! OK, that makes sense now. I thought the HDMI was obligatory, but I'd missed the fact that some TVs work on the LAN :)

Thanks very much. Now I just need to choose the right TV... a daunting task :D

Please help a confused newbie!

Hoping some kind soul will guide me on this. I got an F5-221 NAS and I want to watch ripped DVDs from it (MKV format, since viewing full DVD folders is apparently not even a thing any more, which annoys me but that's a separate gripe!). I'm struggling to understand what I need in terms of an HDMI-co...
