Re: The Flexible Disk Array -- TRAID

This sounds interesting, but I need clarification about risk mitigation and exposure:

If the TNAS box itself were to fail, can I move the drives to a standard Linux PC and read them when they are thus formatted?

Re: Urgent Notification about TNAS being Attacked by Ransomware

Where do I register to receive such important security updates? I read this messages more than 10 days later, because I stumble upon it at random. There should be some channel to receive such critical information timely. I quickly go and check my setup, still running the vulnerable version because t...

Raid1 Pool to Raid10 Pool in-place

I have an existing RAID1 pool with 2x 14TB drives. I would like to expand the Volume that spans the pool with two more 4TB drives (in effect the volume would be a RAID10, 2x14TB+2x4TB). Is it possible to migrate a RAID1 pool to a RAID10 pool in-place? Can a Volume span 2 different Pools (I could the...

Read TNAS formatted drives with Linux PC

Hi all, Obviously RAID protects against disk failures, but what protects me from the NAS box failure itself? Thus the ability for reading the drives in another computer is critical to remove another 'one point of failure' threat. Is there a good documentation of how to read drives formatted with TOS...

Re: Raid1 to simple volume

Ok, I understand that converting RAID 1 to Simple Volume in-place is not possible, and the only available workflow is to re-initialize the volume.

It's inconvenient (if one can convert A->B, we should also be able to do B->A), but I'll make it work.

Raid1 to simple volume

I just installed my TNAS f5-221, and my initial plan for disks did not work as intended. I had setup a RAID 1 volume with two disks, but one of these disks is no longer available, so I need to change plans and return this volume from RAID 1 to simple volume. At the moment the volume runs in 'degrade...
