TOS uses the SMART tool to obtain the temperature of the hard drive. You can also manually obtain the temperature information of the hard drive through this command:
smartctl -A /dev/sd? |grep Temperature

TNAS does not have any specific requirements regarding the disk used for your USB case.
Perhaps there is any requirements for your USB case.

The function you mentioned is now supported on TOS 5/TOS 6.

If you are using TOS4, you can only use the old TNAS mobile app, do not install this app.

I see that you are already inquiring about Hyper Cache related issues. So now this issue has been resolved?
We speculate that it is likely due to high RAID synchronization usage, resulting in slow access.
