Can TOS be installed on Terramaster without recovery e-mail?
I would like to re-install TOS on my F2-210 without recovery e-mail and confirmation with the code received by e-mail. The reason: I don't think that "securing" administrative account on my box with the registration server located somewhere in China on not-so-trusted server is safe enough ...

Re: Continuous seeking noise from idle F2-210 with Seagate ST4000VN00802DR166 drives
The head activity continues all the time with no LED blinking. There is no log report on the disk activity, the drives are listed as healthy with no additional information. I ran scan for bad blocks - during the scan the annoying sounds disappear. Scan takes a long time, so I logged out. Surprisingl...

P.S. The seek sound disappears when I start test for bad blocks. The LEDs are blinking at that time.

Continuous seeking noise from idle F2-210 with Seagate ST4000VN00802DR166 drives
I experience continuous seek-like noise from TNAS when it is idle, the disk activity LEDs are not blinking for already several days. Since I had iFire ransomware attack on this box which encrypted all files recently, I am now paying extreme attention to any unusual un-advertised activity which does ...

Ransomware IceFire in TOS 4.2.43 Encrypts the user files and itself
Recently, I followed an advice to improve security and update the TOS on my F2-210 NAS. I clicked on update and selected online update for speed. The NAS was updated to TOS4.2.43-, and few days later I discovered that all my files on this NAS were encrypted with IceFire ransomware. I turned the box ...

Re: Permissions problems
"The USB storage device attached to your TNAS is writeable only for admin user or user belong to admin group. Please make sure you writing to your USB device with a correct user account, or you can change a USB device and try again." This is not very intuitive and is different from default...

Re: Hibernation not working?
I was debugging the issue about half a year ago. I did some configuration software workarounds, and it made it more usable. One of the things I also did is to add 10 and 15 mins spindown timeouts, and provided developers' feedback on it. I updated today the software and I expected that these shorter...

Re: F2-221 TOS unreachable
I see the same behavior with Chrome browser; Most likely it is a result of Web page caching when you closed the page before. When you see "Loading" bar, click on X on your browser next to URL line; and when it changes to "Reload" - click on Reload. My browser then shows the login...

USB attached HDD on NAS does not go into spin down mode
I have set spindown time for the disks on F2-210 TNAS TOS 4.1.24 (latest). When the external USB disk is attached and it is idle, I am expecting that the spindown parameter will be applied to the disk and it will be stopped when there is no access. Then the user may optionally configure it to disabl...

Share permissions on USB attached drive cannot be shared from user interface
When a USB drive is attached to TNAS F2-210 TOD 4.1.24, the permissions on the share are set to "admin read/write" and no other users are allowed to access the drive. The drive is seen on SAMBA tree on Windows, but it is impossible to map it and use for remote file reads/writes. The permis...
