Re: F2-223 & D4-330 DAS: USB permissions?
Morning Praj - many thanks for the reply. After installing USB Copy on the TNAS I did a backup, and an AOMEI backup from the laptop. Then I re-booted the TNAS, which suddenly allowed both users to access the USB drives. (I was about to try through the TNAS PC, as you suggested, but I didn't need to ...

F2-223 & D4-330 DAS: USB permissions?
Afternoon - I've just got our new F2-223 running. All is well, except one user cannot access the USB drives in the DAS from the Windows laptop. (They don't even show up in Windows Explorer in Map Network Drive.) I assume it's a permission thing (?!) but I can't find any permission settings for USB. ...

Re: F2-221 & D4-300, TOS 5.34: 'User does not exist' - re-install fails
Afternoon Boys & Girls - been quite a week here. (I have actual sweat on my brow!) I had wanted to put the two HD (form the old F2-221) into the newly purchased F2-223, without losing data - or having to format HD1 & copy the RAID from the HD2 back and re-build the RAID. (I was using RAID1 b...

Re: F2-221 & D4-300, TOS 5.34: 'User does not exist' - re-install fails
Morning Qiky - no, not re-installing TOS on the old F2-221.
Could I put the two IronWolf data HDDs from the old 221 into a new 223 TNAS? Would the new TNAS work with the data from the old TNAS, if both ran with TOS5?
Cheers,
Chris

Re: F2-221 & D4-300, TOS 5.34: 'User does not exist' - re-install fails
Morning Zethar - thanks again for all your help. In another thread, Gremlin pointed me (indirectly) towards DiskInternals Linux Reader. This works fine for reading the TOS Linux files from the backups. So, at least we can get to the information, which is the important thing at this point. Zoey at TM...

Re: TNAS F4-421 Shutting Down Unexpectedly
Morning Gremlin - agian, many thanks for this information. I followed your other thread and, thus emboldened, I took our TNAS apart. :o The micro switch - a tiny 2mm cube - is mounted to a small PCB, so I took it out (damaging the little multi-pin socket in the process), and thought about getting a ...

Re: Read USB Copy Backup outside TOS?
We've been using Linux Reader for a few days now: very happy with it (free version). The graphics in the UI remind me of Win95 a bit, and it's a tad 'clunky' and slow. The free version we're on does not allow saving the drive mounting feature, so you have to mount the drive(s) fresh each time, which...

Re: Read USB Copy Backup outside TOS?
I've found this (well regarded, as far as I can tell): Linux Reader from DiskInternals (https://www.diskinternals.com/linux-reader/). I'll let you know how I get on.
Cheers,
Chris

Re: TNAS F4-421 Shutting Down Unexpectedly
Morning Gremlin - thanks for the reply. Also, I'm glad you remembered to remove the power cord... Your solution (for the power switch) was to clean it: excellent idea! How did you get the front off? I can't see any screws so I assume it just pops off? Sounds scary... Did you see any 'debris' on the ...
