Yes, I too miss this network function. The NAS is too floors below and used at most a few hours a day. If I shut it down, I need to be able to remotely restart it.

Can't you use rsync instead of NFS or SMB ?

Then I changed IP or segment allowed (put * instead of the local LAN). Then it worked ! I will have to (un)do these changes one by one to leave only the necessary one....
